After graduated with a degree in Conductive Education (CE) I had many of my family, friends and friends of friends ask me, what exactly is it that you do?
Well that is a tough question because, CE isn’t just a therapy, like physiotherapy and occupational therapy, it is much more complex. So in today’s blog I am going to start to break down exactly what it is we do in a CE session.
CE is a rehabilitation technique that follows key principles, which are blended together to help create intention from a child and action. To make this a little easier to understand, here are a few things we do in a CE session;
So here is a quick recap, our sessions use lots of different equipment to help achieve our goals, we use our voices to say the tasks that we are doing, we follow a routine that helps us use our bodies in every position, we mess around with toys and games while doing the tasks and we help each other every step of the way.
So that’s our whistle stop tour of Conductive Education. Yes! I could go into much greater detail and expand of the more technical side of CE, although personally, I don’t think it would be very enjoyable for you to read! At the end of the day Conductive Education is there to help a child become independent and able, and also help them discover what they CAN do not what they can’t do!
Remember, by changing one small word, your whole world could change.
