For the last 15 months, Ceri has been coming to our house fortnightly to give my daughter Missy individual sessions of Conductive Education. Missy had met Ceri a few times before these sessions but had never worked closely with her before. Ceri quickly assessed Missy’s abilities and planned her exercises around her greatest areas of needs. Missy got to know Ceri easily and settled into her routines. Her walking with the ladder has improved considerably over this period. She can now walk at least twice as far as she could before. She is learning to stand up holding the ladder. Her high kneeling has also improved significantly over this time, and she will now kneel up against the sofa reading her books happily. Her 4-point kneeling has improved immeasurably – it used to be a fight for 2 adults to hold her in position, but now 1 adult can hold her comfortably and she is happy to be helped to crawl forwards.
Ceri has developed Missy’s routine in line with her changing abilities, and is flexible on each visit depending on Missy’s mood. Ceri has a very natural ability to tune in to the children she works with and Missy is pleased to see Ceri when she arrives. She has built a good relationship with Missy, and therefore Missy is happy with her exercises and trusts Ceri so that she is able to extend Missy’s learning and her abilities as a result. We are so pleased that Ceri is working with Missy.IsobelMissy's Mum
We had the pleasure of working with Ceri in the states for a conductive education summer camp. She was so cheerful and great with the kids but is also very motivated and works hard to get the best out of the children. She has a “will do” focus for the children. We just loved her attitude and her desire to learn and grow in the therapy in order to help the children reach their best potential!ShannenJaren's Mum
Carmen wanted to show her class what she had learnt to do this year. First she told them: ‘I learnt to walk with Ceri, my physio, she works wth me every Wednesday and Thursday. I’m going to show you how I walk for Ceri, she’s so physically and emotionally helps me to believe I can do it.’CarmenChild (client)
Ceri has made huge progress with our daughter within a few months. She has brought the knowledge of Conductive Education and tailored programs specifically to her ability to consolidate skills and finally move to the next level. She has provided support to our child but always challenges and uses good verbal encouragement and reminders. Our daughter has grown in confidence and motivation as a result of Ceri’s determination and passion. Working with Ceri we can now set harder goals for the future, and see real progress.Jo Parent
Evie benefits from Ceri’s session immensely. Due to the degenerative condition of her illness we need to ensure that everything possible is done to delay its progression. These sessions play a pivotal role – Evie thoroughly enjoys them as well as looks forward to them.SimonEvie's Dad
Ceri is a wonderful, caring and very knowledgeable Conductor whom we had the pleasure of working with our son Zion for two summers in the US. Zion has been diagnosed with Spastic Quad Cerebral Palsy. Ceri worked really hard to make sure our son was consistently meeting his goals.ChaunitaZion's Mum
Ceri is doing an brilliant job with Charlie. its great that she is working on areas that I have specifically requested, and he needs to develop in. She communicates everything that she is doing and gives me ideas I can use when she is not around. It’s great to be able book sessions in the holidays at a time that works for us.DeeCharlie's Mum
Our daughter Sophie Szczechura was born in January 2011 with Skeletal Dysplasia and a very weak body, she suffered from many chest infections and has a tracheostomy to support her breathing. Sophie never walked and was not able to crawl, the only way of moving was a combat crawl for a short distance.
The situation changed when we met Ceri from Conductive Care when Sophie was 6 years old. Ceri did an initial assessment and wrote a plan for us to follow at home along with biweekly sessions with Ceri. After two months of rigorous following of Ceri’s plan and sessions, along with multiple encouragements from her, Sophie started crawling, which was absolutely amazing, as she never did it before.
Ceri always encouraged us to move forward and she advised to use a walker just after 5 months from when she started working with Sophie. Again after a lot of encouragement and training Sophie is using walker independently and can turn in the walker, walk and we can`t believe its only 3 months since we introduced the walker!
We are absolutely sure that Sophie wouldn`t be able to move from combat crawl to walking in a walker and crawling independently, without help and encouragement from Ceri Metcalf .We are absolutely delighted with her involvement in Sophie’s development, especially considering Sophie’s high level of disability and how low the expectations were of Sophie’s mobility at the beginning of program.
Thank you Ceri, we are all looking forward to the next year with Conductive Care and new milestones for Sophie to achieve!Erik and Jo SzczechuraSophie's Parents
