I have worked with children with disabilities for 10 years, the children aged from 6months – 21yrs. As a conductor I have also had the opportunity to work in the USA as well as the UK. I started Conductive Care Ltd because I wanted to create the opportunity to change as many children’s lives as possible. I am extremely passionate about what I do and how I work with children enabling them to be as independent as possible and live life to the fullest. I love having fun with all the children during their sessions as well as helping them achieve their goals. I am also passionate about supporting their parents and showing others that it’s all about their ABILITY not disability.
I live a very fit and healthy lifestyle, with a few treats here and there. I am a triathlete, which involves swimming, biking and running all one after the other and I continue to compete in triathlons including aiming to complete an Ironman in the near future. Living 5 minutes from the beach is great because I also love swimming in the sea for fun outside of triathlons, and you will always catch me in the sea at any free moment I have (yes all year round). I love spending time with my friends, visiting family all over the world and living an active lifestyle.
I am passionate about developing functional communication skills, particularly with those who have barriers to verbal communication. I am trained in PECS, Makaton and PODD and have extensive experience in implementing Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC). I have worked alongside Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists in order to provide a combined approach and have implemented sensory diets and a range of sensory strategies to support children with sensory difficulties.
I have extensive training with professionals from Division TEACCH having completed 5-day training, 3-day Advanced training and spending 3 days as a shadow trainer. This approach is an integral part in supporting individuals with autistic spectrum disorders in order to develop and promote independence. In addition to this, I am also trained in, and have experience using, strategies including Identi-play, Attention Autism, Engagement profiling and colourful semantics, amongst others.
In my spare time I enjoy walking our dog, looking after our horses and baking a variety of cakes and bakes. I also enjoy taking part in cycle rides such as Ride London 100 and half marathons.
